Dear Prof. Miller, Actually I was just chatting with Prof. Ding Hong from Minzu Daxue last night about that conference. She was here visiting this weekend. Not sure if I'll be able to attend in March but I definitely look forward to hearing more about the research from all the participants. I also have a few papers in the works which I'd be happy to send your way in fair trade ;-) Enjoy your time in Beijing!

Hi James,
Excellent work, I'll look forward to hearing more about the historical changes in agricultural production amongst the Blang and how it may have impacted their religious practices (or vice versa). It will also be interesting to see if the commodification processes from tea production interact differently compared to the rubber plantations that Janet Sturgeon examined with regard to the Dai and Akha living in the region. If you ever stop through HK please drop me a note. I work on a very similar topic with the Ersu, Nuosu and Han in Sichuan.
